Ronny
Roman (ANDY CONLAN) was once an up and coming magician, performing
daring escape acts on stage with the help of his childhood
sweetheart, Charlotte (JULIA HYDE).
When he found her in bed with another Magician, Victorio The
Great (DAVID CHRISTIAN), he hid from the resulting turmoil
by creating the fantasy that he possesses dark magical powers
— powers that shield him from any emotional trauma.
Behaving this way isn't good for a career in showbusiness
and within a year, the only work he can get is at children's
birthday parties and what he thinks is a free show performing
at a Hospice.

When
Ronny begs his manager, the impossibly bargain-basement Trevor
Norton (MICHAEL HURST), for another chance at reviving his career,
he is given three months to find a replacement stage assistant.
To make things worse, the escape trick he must perform nearly
killed him last time he attempted it. Ronny's ill conceived
search for a new assistant seems doomed to failure from the
start.
Completely clueless, he petitions his neighbour, the gorgeous
Celestine (JADE COLLINS). She agrees to become his new assistant
— for her own mercenary reasons. |
|
To
make things worse, his “performance” at the Hospice
is revealed to be serving alcohol to terminal patients as part
of their care.
Reluctantly carrying out his duties as a mobile bartender, Ronny
meets two people: Henry Peters (ALEXANDER ANDERSON), an elderly
man with cancer who is convinced his dead wife is visiting him
in his room and Sarah March (GEORGIE HILL), a young nurse who
instantly sees through the facade that Ronny has created for
himself. |
|
As
he spends more time with Henry and Sarah, his priorities begin
to change.
When Sarah gives him the idea to use his “powers”
to help people, the repercussions drive his story to places
that he could never have anticipated.
With his world spinning out of control, Ronny must rally all
his strength to face his final trial and make the ultimate escape. |
